The wood processing and furniture manufacturing industry of Vietnam has a history of growth and success. In 2015, Vietnam ranked 5th in the list of biggest wooden furniture exporter in the world, followed by the countries China, Germany, Italy and Poland. In that year, the country exported 6.9 billion worth of wooden furniture products. Vietnamese producers are innovating their technology for improving their productivity, while keeping the production cost low. To give the Vietnamese producers a platform to showcase their products to international buyers, a group of organizers started an annual fair- Vietnam International Furniture & Home Accessories Fair. HAWA at the exhibition host a furniture design competition (Hoa Moi) to find and foster talented designers and a motive to develop Vietnam furniture design industry. Hoa Moi competition is an attraction for many businesses and young designers.
The last edition was a successful event, where 1961 booths were erected, 392 companies including 144 international exhibitors, 11,720 local and international visitors from 80 countries and provinces participated.
